Nestled in the heart of the South Karelia region, Lammintupa is a charming wooden cabin set within a peaceful countryside landscape on the shores of the spring-fed pond Kirveslampi, in Lemi, Finland. Originally built in 1966 and renovated in 1984, the cabin received fully updated interior surfaces in 2021, combining rustic character with modern comfort. This holiday rental is ideally suited for couples with one child seeking a tranquil retreat surrounded by nature. The property features a living room and a kitchen, along with 2 bedrooms: the first contains 2 beds and the second contains 1 bed, both equipped with blackout curtains for a restful night's sleep. The washroom includes a WC and shower, and an electric sauna stove is available in the indoor sauna. Guests can stay connected throughout their stay thanks to a fiber optic internet WiFi connection. Please note that, contrary to any earlier photographs, the cottage was painted red in early summer 2024.

Outdoors

The outdoor setting of Lammintupa is one of its most captivating features, offering direct access to the spring-fed pond Kirveslampi, which stretches approximately 500 metres in length and 300 metres in width. The pond's hard, gently deepening clay bottom makes it particularly welcoming for swimming, and a pier along with a rowing boat are available for guests to enjoy. During the summer season from May to September, a separate beach sauna is available for use, equipped with a wood-burning sauna stove and a cauldron in the washroom. As there is no electricity supply in this outdoor sauna, water must be carried to it manually, preserving an authentic and traditional Finnish sauna experience. The surrounding landscape is enriched by excellent forest trails that are perfectly suited for jogging and peaceful walks through the natural woodland environment.

Other Information

Lammintupa is best suited for a small family or a couple with one child, offering a calm and restorative atmosphere throughout the stay. The cabin is heated using firewood, and 1 firewood basket per day is included in the rental. Additional baskets are available at an extra fee, payable directly to the owner in cash. Guests should be aware that electric car charging is not possible at this property. The indoor sauna is fitted with an electric sauna stove, while the separate beach sauna operates exclusively with a wood-burning stove and is available seasonally between May and September.

This traditional dish, a delicious lamb slowly stewed in a birch vat, can be savoured at Lemi's Museum, offering guests a truly authentic taste of local culture. The surrounding area also provides outstanding opportunities for outdoor recreation, with peaceful forest trails ideal for jogging and immersing oneself in the Finnish natural landscape.
