Brittany is a region of
France with its own distinct culture and a craggy, windswept, dramatically beautiful landscape that is uniquely charming. It is especially famous for its beaches and is also home to plenty of incredible castles, or châteaux. If scenic surroundings and a rich cultural heritage are two the most important traits in choosing a holiday destination for you, then a
villa in Brittany is just thing for those looking to
vacation in France. And if you are looking to visit a particularly unique French château that is especially picturesque during your time in this lovely region of
France, then we highly suggest a trip to La Bourbansais.
The
Château de La Bourbansais is located in
Pleugueneuc in Ille-et-Vilaine and is a stunning 16th century castle on a large and elegant estate with elaborate gardens. What differentiates it from the many other pretty fairytale castles located all across France, however, is the fact that it is also a zoo and is home to some incredible animals (who are usually in their enclosures but can sometimes be seen against the stunning backdrop of the castle). Classified as an official historical monument since 1959, the site has been open as a zoo since 1965 and today houses over sixty different species and over five hundred animals.
