Nestled in the heart of the Finnish lakeside landscape, this charming log cottage offers an authentic and peaceful holiday rental experience in Sulkava, Finland, approximately 30 kilometres west of Savonlinna. Built in 1996 and partly renovated in 2011 and 2015, the property combines rustic character with practical modern comforts. The cottage accommodates guests across a well-organised interior that includes a living room and kitchen area with a convertible sofa and double bed, as well as a separate bedroom with a double bed. The bathroom facilities consist of a washroom with a shower and WC, complemented by a traditional electric sauna stove. A welcoming porch adds to the charm of the property. Among the key amenities available, you will find a fridge-freezer, an air source heat pump ensuring comfortable temperatures throughout your stay, and a gas grill for outdoor cooking. A woodshed and a purpose-built shelter for the waste container, constructed in 2014, are also located on the yard.

The property sits just 20 metres from Lake Iijärvi, a scenic body of water stretching 4 kilometres in length and 0.6 kilometres in width. The lakeshore features a hard sand bottom with a shallow, gently deepening entry that makes it particularly suitable for children, while the deeper areas transition to a muddier lakebed further out. A private jetty extends over the water, and an own boat is available for your use, inviting you to explore the tranquil lake at your leisure. The outdoor area also features a gas grill, ideal for alfresco dining, along with the woodshed and waste container shelter that keep the yard tidy and functional.

Other Information

The cottage is available throughout the year and benefits from an air source heat pump, ensuring a comfortable indoor climate regardless of the season. For those wishing to enhance their stay, a wood-fired hot tub is available for rent directly from the owner. The tub is transported to the property for an agreed period and is mounted on a trailer chassis, making it a flexible and unique addition to your time at the cottage. Booking must be made directly with the owner at least 2 weeks before your holiday, as the tub is also rented independently of the cottage and availability cannot be guaranteed without advance reservation. Delivery takes place on the day of the order, with arrival at 16:00 on check-in day and at 12:00 on all other days. The initial heating of the tub is carried out by the renter and takes approximately 2 to 3 hours. The rental price covers filling with lake water, as well as emptying and washing after use. Should the rental period extend beyond the initial fill, any water changes are the responsibility of the renter. Payment for the hot tub rental is made on-site at the start of the rental period, accepted in cash or via MobilePay. Please be aware that from November 1 to March 30, a freezing temperature limit of -10 degrees Celsius applies and the maximum rental period during this time is 2 days.

Lake Iijärvi, located just steps from the property, provides immediate access to swimming, boating, and fishing, offering a full range of water-based leisure activities within the surrounding natural landscape of the Finnish lakeland region. The broader Sulkava area is well known for its scenic archipelago and outdoor pursuits, including the famous Sulkava Rowing Race, one of Finland's most prestigious rowing events. The surrounding region offers opportunities to discover local nature trails, traditional Finnish villages, and the unspoiled wilderness that defines this part of southern Savo.
