Located 2km from the town of Costitx on the famously gorgeous island of Mallorca, Ses Murteres is a four bedroom, four bathroom characteristic stone villa that features elegantly appointed, spacious, high-ceilinged interiors and a lovingly executed surrounding garden. The gardens, though rocky and spare in places, have lots of lovely details such as the old well and stone trough, an outdoor barbeque area, a covered dining area carried on stone Doric columns, statues, and potted plants throughout, and a pool area with a covered area with wicker furniture, loungers, and umbrellas. Santuari de Lluc is a monastery and pilgrimage site located in north-west Mallorca, ringed by mountains, in a lush green and heavily forested plain. A stunning collection of buildings in the most scenic and peaceful of locations, it is a must-see gem. If you have found a vacation rental on the Balearic Islands and are exploring Mallorca, it is certainly worth a visit.

The Santuari de Lluc was founded in the 13th century when a Moorish shepherd named Lluc found a statue of the Virgin Mary amongst rocks in a stream on the site that would ultimately become home to the monastery. It was then taken to the nearby Church of Sant Pere d’Escorca but then was discovered to have disappeared and mysteriously found back in the stream where it was discovered the very next day. This mysterious and miraculous event gave locals pause to build a chapel on the site and the it is now considered to be the most important pilgrimage site on the island. Thousands visit each year and it has become an integral part of Mallorcan history and culture.
