A holiday cottage in the beautiful lake landscape of Lapland on the shores of Lake Olangonjärvi, part of the large lake Simojärvi. The two-story, versatile cottage offers a great setting for both summer and winter tourism. From the lean-to, you can admire the northern lights blazing in the sky or the nightless night right by the lake from the campfire. The cottage is surrounded by the hill marshes and the wilderness of Lapland.
The cottage, built in 1991, has a double bed upstairs and a fold-out bed for 1-2 (both 160 cm wide). Upstairs there is also an alternative bed for children a fold-out bed with a 15 cm mattress (bed length 188 cm). Downstairs there is a fold-out futon sofa bed for 1-2 (140 cm wide). The heart of the well-equipped living room and kitchen is a soapstone fireplace. A modern design air-to-air heat pump makes the house efficiently warm in the summer and cool in the summer. There is also a bathroom-toilet and an electric sauna downstairs.
The traditional wood-heated lakeside sauna is located right on the lake shore. You can swim directly from the pier into the lake. In front of the sauna is a shallow and hard natural sand beach, which deepens after the pier and turns into soft mud. It is possible to use the lakeside sauna all year round, but ask the owner for permission, if you want to heat it in winter.
The shallow Olangonjärvi lake is ideal for paddling. A two-person canoe and a one-person kayak are available. There is also a boat equipped with oars and a small outboard motor (5 hp) for fishing; the use of the outboard motor must be agreed separately with the owner. The one-kilometer-long Olangonjärvi lake is connected to the 33-kilometer-long and 90-square-kilometer-wide Simojärvi lake, which is famous for its fishing opportunities.
