Spring travel is a great idea for those looking to save a bit of money and find great bargains and for those who prefer milder climes, calmer paces of life and smaller crowds. Italy

Spring in Italy promises travel free of the stress of the crush of tourists and soaring. In March, April and May, Venice, for example, can still be cold at night but is a sunny beauty with wisteria spilling over from hidden walled gardens. In May, things heat up comfortably, the air remains fresh and tourist services become fully operational sans excessive crowds. Rome is always relatively busy but, between April and June, it is pleasantly warm and crowds are less intense. The lakes of Como and Garda, are incredibly popular tourist areas and destinations and are lovely in Spring. The weather can be a little unpredictable between March and early May but it is the perfect time of year for many outdoor pursuits, such as cycling and hiking. On the coast, meanwhile, is the Cinque Terre where, during March, April and May, the crowds are much smaller and the weather is pleasant, if changeable. This area is incredibly colourful and picturesque, made up of lovely little villages built along the cliff-sides that are best explored during the Spring, when you'll be able to comfortably wander without sweating or squeezing through throngs of people. Spain

If you are looking for a warm Spring destination where the weather is still pleasant, even if the temperatures never get very, very high, a vacation rental in Spain is a perfect choice. France
