Sherry, for many, might only be a drink that their grandmother or other older women in their lives consumed. However, in recent years, the low-ABV, versatile, and complex dessert wine has been given new life. Used in cocktails, spritzes, cooking, and food pairing experiences, this is one of those ingredients that it is time to reconsider... The best place to do just that? Well, while enjoying a November vacation in Spain, staying in one of our villas in Andalusia, and attending International Sherry Week, of course!
Taking place from the 2nd to the 8th of November 2026, the 13th edition of International Sherry Week will see events held across the globe in Belgium, Brazil, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, the UK, Sweden, Japan, and the USA. The greatest concentration of these events is actually in the UK but Andalusia will see its fair share of events throughout the course of the festival and is surely the best place to learn more about this beverage and to sample it!
Sherry Week Cocktail Sessions, in particular, is set to bring cocktail culture to Spain and to showcase just sherry can be enjoyed in cocktails – both in recipes that originally call for it and as a low-ABV replacement to other spirits in, or as a modern twist on, classic cocktails. Options like a Solera Spritz (dry Fino or Manzanilla sherry, tonic water, and grapefruit) or a Rebujito (Fino mixed with lemon-lime soda and fresh mint) are lighter, food-friendly, and refreshing cocktails that are perfect to enjoy during a relaxing holiday in Spain.
As the fortified wine is produced from white grapes that are grown around the city of Jerez de la Frontera in Andalusia, this is one of the best places to go in Spain throughout the festival to get the most full experience of the beverage and to reacquaint yourself to sherry.
On the 6th of November, at 7.30pm, there will be a special guided tasting of five different sherries, with tickets costing just €30. Book your ticket now to avoid disappointment!
To celebrate the festival and the 140th anniversary of Bodegas Cayetano del Pino, in the intimate setting of winey's cellars and rich at the the casks' edge will be a tasting of wines from different ageing tiers: 2nd Criadera, Solera, VOS, and VORS. There will be two different sessions, one on the 3rd of November at 6pm dedicated to Amontillado and one on the 5th of November at 6pm focussing on Palo Cortado. Costing €50 per person, it will be limited to just 15 participants, ensuring an intimate, leisurely, and utterly exclusive tasting.
Further events have yet to be announced but a variety of tastings, cocktail evenings, paired meals, and more will be added to the schedule so be sure to keep your eye on their website to make note of any additional experiences you might want to try and fit into your itinerary. Other Spanish cities and towns will also be hosting events so even if you book a vacation rental in Spain elsewhere, the website is a great touchstone to find local sherry events near you.
