Although the farmhouse was very comfortable, I do not believe I would book it again for vacation. Our party arrived on Wednesday around 1:30 pm. The family downstairs was very gracious in allowing us to wait in the courtyard until someone came to let us in the farmhouse, approximately 30 minutes even after I had forwarded our arrival time. That was not too bad, but when we attempted to wash our dinner dishes later that day or take a shower we discovered NO HOT WATER. This was relayed immediately to the owner. He stated he would have it fixed the following day. Upon arrival again back to the farmhouse the next day w discovered we were still without HOT WATER. Again owner contacted and were assured it would be fixed. Friday morning after we COLD SHOWERED sgain we returned that evening to find at last we had HOT WATER. During our four day stay at this villa I was only able to receive ONE HOT SHOWER on Saturday morning, the day before we left. For this reason I would not return o this villa.
[Counter comment from the owners] The house has been thoroughly cleaned during the morning of arrival, after the departure of the other guests. Neither the previous guests, nor the cleaning lady told me about problems with the hot water. On September 25, at 9.06 am I received the email from the guests informing me about the failure of the boiler. I immediatly alerted the maintenance technician that arrived shortly after, he went to the property and found the malfunction of the boiler, presumably due to a supply of "dirty" gas , and he cleaned the nozzles. When he finished the job, the boiler worked fine. On September 25 at 21.55 pm I received the email in which the guests informed me that the hot water was lacking again. On 26 September in the morning, the technician went back to the property, completely cleaned the whole boiler and now it is functioning very well. I am sorry about what happened and I understand the disappointment of the guests, but certainly I acted immediatly to resolve the problem, so much so that I sent a technician 2 times in 24 hours; the problem of the "dirty" gas was caused by a third party, the supplier of the gas.

The family were really friendly and very accommodating and helpful. I recommend joining in with the meal they put on for all the guests (20 euros per head), the meal is plentiful and very good. Recommend trying/buying their Olive oil also.

What a wonderful one week stay in the Mugnai Home. Tho the apt is 20 miles from Florence, it was easy to walk to the train station, buy a ticket and see the countryside into Florence SMN station, and then spend the day touring. A car can be rented in the town just north of San Giovanni instead of renting in the Florence traffic hassle. Mario and his family made our stay so much more than we dreamed. They went out of their way to accomodate us time and again. We were very pleased with our choice in the small town of San Giovanni.

Our stay in the apartment was great. A lot of room, everything new, very friendly owner, very confortable overall.
The location is also a great hub to access the best Tuscany destinations for wine and food. Most of them is an hour or less by car (I really advise you rent one).
The only downside is the town of Foiano. It has a couple of good restaurants, but the historical center is not a great place to walk.
Overall I really recommend Diamante for tourists looking to stay a week or two visiting wineries and the beautiful small towns of Tuscany.

A lovely, tranquil spot with buckets of charm and great facilities. The villa was rustic-feeling but perfectly-functional and well-equipped (full cooking/ kitchen facilities and gas hob; clothes horse and laundry; outdoor tables etc). Bed was comfortable and linen/ furnishings all clean. Owner-operator was readily available for queries and logistical concerns. Excellent supermarkets (especially Co-op) in Figline Valdarno, and close enough for day trips to Siena, Florence and San Gimignano.
