Some Stories Of The Beauty Of Christmas In Paris

Paris at Christmas
Of the many times I have visited Paris, I have been to the city during the festive season twice and both were utterly magical and the best experiences of Paris that I have ever had. If you're looking to spend Christmas abroad or go on a little trip during the festive season, a vacation rental in Paris is sure to deliver.
Paris is always a stunning place to spend time, in my humble opinion, but there is something very special about the city at Christmastime. As it is winter, the tourist crowds are smaller and gaining access to the likes of the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower can take minutes compared to the hours that people spend lining up during the summer months. So, visiting around Christmas means that you spend more time enjoying yourself and less time in a queue. In addition, the already beautiful city is even more gorgeous when dotted by Christmas markets, draped in twinkling lights, full of incredible window displays, and steeped in Christmas spirit overall. It is a perfect time to come enjoy the incredible flavours, sights and activities of Paris at their most charming.

The first Christmas during which I visited Paris was completely magic. It was mid-December, my first holiday abroad together with my first love and I ticked off all of the festive musts. It was perfect. Perfect in a way that makes me question why some people ever complain about the city.

We spent almost the entire first day in the Musée d'Orsay, entering right away and not having any large crowds to contend with, allowing a pleasant amount of space to enjoy all of my favourite Impressionist pieces. We then wandered to dinner and sipped mulled wine, warming our hands on the cups as we walked towards the Eiffel Tower. We explored the Christmas market nearby and even went ice-skating with that iconic Parisian landmark as our backdrop. To end the evening, we climbed to the top of the Arc de Triomphe and took in the glittering city and beautiful nightscape below. Then we walked back through the pretty little winding streets to our hotel, right in the centre of Paris, near the Jardin des Tuileries, hand in hand and my little baby heart was full. It is an incredibly fond memory.

The next day, the itinerary continued with more of the best things to see and do in France's capital at Christmas so be sure to read on to the next post.
