Spain's Costa Blanca is known for her beautiful, picture-perfect beaches, crystal clear water and promise of sun but all this is somewhat taken away from by the reputation of certain towns and resorts and the tourist crowds that can plague them. If you want that assured ideal beach holiday but are looking for something a little more authentic and a little less crowded, we have the perfect place for you: Cala de Finestrat.
Cala de Finestrat is a pretty beachside resort close to the lovely village of Finestrat on the Costa Brava in the region of Valencia.
Cala de Finestrat is a pretty beachside resort close to the lovely village of Finestrat on the Costa Brava in the region of Valencia.
It is much quieter than the likes of its neighbouring resort of Benidorm and retains a more uniquely Spanish charm that hasn't been compromised by tourism. Just find a vacation rental in Valencia and come spend some time relaxing and having fun on this perfect beach!
The village of Finestrat is very unusual, basically an inland mountain village and small tourist resort by the sea at the same time that hugs the mountain side of Puig Campana. It boasts beautiful views from the mountains down to the sea, Moorish architecture and colourful houses. Cala de Finestrat, meanwhile, hugs the bay below and is surrounded by apartment complexes and, yet, it is still not as built up as other areas. It is much less crowded than its neighbours and is ideal for a relaxing beach holiday.
With blue flag status, Cala de Finestrat is beloved by tourists and locals alike, who tend to choose it over Playa Poniente and Levante Beach, which are the two bigger beaches nearer Benidorm. Like other beaches and resorts in the area, Cala Finestrat is well organised, clean, has plenty of handy facilities and is very family friendly. The sand is soft and the water slopes slowly deeper, making it the perfect place to bring kids for a beach holiday in Spain.
