
L'Oceanogràfic is an extraordinary aquarium in Valencia. The largest complex of its type, measuring over 110,000 square metres, it is home to 45,000 animals and 500 different species including fish, mammals, birds, reptiles, sharks, penguins, dolphins, sea lions, walruses, beluga whales, and more. Made up of a cluster of buildings, each of which is identified with one of our planet's seas and oceans with thematically appropriate exhibitions held within, the habitats housed inside include the Mediterranean, wetlands, the tropical and sub-tropical environments of the Mangrove Swamps and the Mediterranean Marsh, the seaweed Kelp Forests, the Izu Peninsula in Japan, the Atlantic Ocean, the Indo-Pacific, the Caribbean, the Atlantic Ocean, the Arctic, the Antarctic, the Red Sea, s dolphinarium and more.
Facilities on-site include three restaurants, the most iconic being the Underwater Restaurant, located in the centre of the lake across two storeys, one of which is above water and looks like an island and the other which is below water.
