Gummy bears

Those with a sweet tooth have lots of great reasons to book a villa in France as the nation is famous all over the globe for its impossibly delicate pastries, intricate desserts fit for a queen, and elegant chocolates and sweets, all usually presented in the most beautiful packaging or plating. In addition to this however, despite the brand being more strongly associated with Germany, the only Haribo Museum in the world and the largest Haribo store in the world are located in France. Find a vacation rental in the area around Uzès – an incredibly pretty medieval town located across the Rhône River from the heart of Provence in the Occitanie region – and come sample some of the world's favourite gummy sweets while exploring this picturesque part of France.

Opened in the spring of 1996 – so thirty years ago this year! - the Haribo Museum in Uzès brings visitors through the history of the brand and the French branch of the company. Previously, the Uzès location was the home of the Zan licorice factory, opened all the way back in 1862. Then, in 1987, Haribo moved in and introduced the world to its iconic gold bear. Since then, the brand and the eventual museum have only continued to prosper in the area.

In addition to the brand history and the secrets to its creation and success, guests at the Haribo Museum will get a chance to experience gourmet exhibitions dedicated to some of its other icons, like Tagada and Chamallows. These unique and immersive experiences also have selfie zones for taking pictures with your favourite snacks.

Both self-guided and guided tours are available through the museum and kids aged 4 to 14 can also get special tickets that allow them access to the creative workshop, further adding a unique flavour to their visit. A stop at the shop and the Machine Room complete your visit.

It is also worth keeping in mind that during the summer months, the museum becomes an even more colourful and festive space where additional free activities are added to visits such as games, tastings, challenges, special decorations, opportunities to meet the mascots, and more. So, if you are visiting during a summer vacation in France, you will be able to enjoy even more excitement!

With various different tour and visit options no matter when you visit, however, you'll always be able to plan the right trip for yourself and your family. Book a villa in Provence and pop over the river to brighten up your vacation and to reward any little ones or travel companions with a particular sweet tooth at the world's only Haribo Museum in Uzès.
