Located down a pretty, winding lane on a hillside among the kind of scenes of cypress and olive trees, rolling green hills, farmland, medieval villages, and old farmhouses for which Umbria and Tuscany are both famous, Aqua Bio Retreat is set within a private 250-acre estate surrounded by over 1,500 olive trees and a beautiful 6-hectare artificial lake. Guests can, therefore, enjoy postcard perfect scenery all throughout their vacation – while eating breakfast, swimming in the pool, drinking a glass of wine in the evening, chatting over dinner al fresco, or simply every time you look through a window or step outside.
The ancient Etruscan town of Chiusi is 3km away and Castiglione del Lago is a short distance away, as is Trasimeno Lake, allowing for both easy access to shops and daily necessities in addition to leisure pursuits and even more incredible scenery. Nearby tourist destinations include key Tuscan locations such as Cortona (21km or 13 miles away), Montepulciano (26km or 16 miles away), Montalcino (62km or 39 miles away) and Arezzo (63km or 39 miles away) and the town of Perugia in Umbria, which is 49km (or 30 miles) away.
Even if you don't venture very far away, however, you'll find plenty to keep you busy at the villa itself! In addition to the spacious gardens and astounding views, the villa boasts a private spa building just 30m from the main house with a four-person Jacuzzi (1.30 m deep), sauna, Turkish bath, and panoramic loungers. In the garden itself, there is an eco-pool, available for the exclusive use of guests. Unlike traditional swimming pools that use chlorine and other chemical agents for purification, this eco-pool is inspired by the self-purification mechanisms of natural lakes and uses a biological system based on aquatic plants and microorganisms. To the side of the pool there are lovely lounge areas with daybeds and parasols, allowing you to relax in a perfect little oasis of calm.
The house is full of light and spacious, with lots of authentic Italian charm, and finished with a modern touch. Enjoy the exposed chestnut wood beam ceilings and the handmade terracotta floors as well as all of the thoughtful touches and interesting decorative details, which create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Spread across two floors, the house is connected internally by a spiral staircase and externally by a wide masonry staircase.
At the main entrance, on the ground floor, there is a large and shaded porch decorated with lounge furniture and flowers in lovely terracotta pots. Upon entering, a hallway leads you to an open plan living area with a pretty and traditional Italian kitchen with all of the mod-cons you could need, a dining area, and a cosy sitting area with a sofa, armchair and fireplace. The ground floor has two pretty double bedrooms with a shared bathroom. There is also a small single room with an en suite bathroom and independent outdoor access.
Additionally, a laundry room with a washing machine, dryer, and guest bathroom is available for the use of those staying at the villa. Upstairs, there is another spacious living area with sofas, a TV, fireplace, and a wooden desk as well as a smaller living room. In the annex with the spa facilities, there are two more bedrooms, a twin and a double, with a shared bathroom, making this an amazing space for a small family or group of friends to occupy.
Connecting the main house to the annex is one of the most extraordinary spaces in the property and a true heart of the home: a large covered patio with sofas, décor, and lounge furniture for relaxing while taking in the views as well as a large wooden table for al fresco dining. A traditional wood-fired oven and a built-in barbecue make it a perfect space for preparing and enjoying meals no matter the time of year.
For your convenience and comfort, the villa also offers air-conditioning in all of the bedrooms and the kitchen, WIFI thorughout, parking for up to four vehicles on-site, and a change of bed linens and towels every four days.
