The Jardin du Luxembourg is a truly stunning and massive garden attached to the beautiful Palais de Luxembourg and is located in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, in a very central position, not far from Notre-Dame and the Latin quarter.

Created in the 17th century, under the supervision of Marie de Medicis, mother to Louis XIII, it covers 23 hectares and, for good reason, it is one of the most popular outdoor spaces to visit in Paris.

Built in a combination of Italian Baroque and English style gardens, it is the perfect place to wander peacefully in the middle of this bustling metropolis.

Once a tiny village in the countryside, the surrounding area is now a wealthy suburb of Paris. This is where King Louis XIV moved out the French court from the capital in 1682 and where the royal family remained until the French Revolution and the beginning of the end of the monarchy.

Extravagant and beautiful, the building began life as a brick and stone hunting lodge for Louis XIII that was built in 1624 under the architect was Jacques Lemercier.
