When temperatures rise while on vacation in the summer months, there are plenty of ways to cool off. Firstly, choosing the right rental is a great place to start. For example, you can rent one of our villas in Italy with a pool so that you can take a dip whenever you want. Or you can choose one of our villas in Italy with air-conditioning so you can always escape to cool air indoors. Or you could decide on a location like one of our villas on the Amalfi Coast, our villas in the Cinque Terre, or our villas on the Tuscan Coast to have both the sea breezes and waters to help you stay cool.

As temperatures cool after the summer months and now that our summer 2025 calendar is open for booking villas in Italy, it is a good time to consider the summer heat. Summers worldwide continue to get hotter and this is not something that is changing. While Italy is not even the country that is suffering most from this, it is a destination where people are really feeling the heat.

This is for a variety of reasons, most notably that air-conditioning is still not as universally used (though this is changing) as it is in some parts of the world, again for various reasons. If you are planning a holiday in Italy for the summer and you are sensitive to the heat or travelling with vulnerable people (children, older folks, people with various illnesses, et cetra) then there are some things that are worth keeping in mind in order to plan a comfortable stay so that you can make the most of your vacation.

Several of Italy’s regions are known for their lush and pastoral landscapes and, among them, Umbria's is one of the most picturesque. Made up of rolling green hills, towering peaks, and lush meadows, it is at its loveliest between May and July, when the countryside goes into full bloom. So, get browsing our vacation rentals in Umbria and come see it for yourself!

The most cinematically stunning and breathtaking part of the entire region during this time of the year is the Piani di Castelluccio, also known as the Plain of Castelluccio. Like something from a scene in the Sound of Music, this ethereal beauty seems almost too remarkable to be real. Composed of three distinct sections, this plain stretches out and becomes one massive and colourful tapestry of flowers.
