A charming town on the central Adriatic Coast of Croatia that has a preserved old town which lies on a small island connected to the mainland and the island of Čiovo by bridges, it is a seaside gem that also has an excellent diving centre. If you want to explore the coastline of Croatia from below, just find a vacation rental in Trogir and head to the Trogir Diving Centre.

Located 4km from the town, the Trogir Diving centre is located in a beautiful cove in the small tourist resort of Okrug Gornji and is a family business that has been running successfully in the area for twenty years. Equipped with state-of-the-art diving gear and friendly instructors and in an ideal location, it is a great place to dive or learn to dive. Many are drawn to Croatia as a holiday destination for the sun and fun that is promised by the long coast, perfect weather and impossibly blue waters of the Adriatic. There are many coastal cities to explore but the 2,000 year old charming city of Trogir has to be one of our favourites among them all. A vacation rental in Trogir is an especially good idea for those who want to explore the coast of Croatia from underneath the water as it is home to the Trogir Diving Centre, which, with twenty years of experience, and a variety of programs to choose from, is great for all levels of experience.

Croatia and Dubrovnik, in particular, became incredibly trendy holiday destinations in recent years at least in part because of Game Of Thrones but largely because of the great weather, historic towns, wonderful beaches and low cost of living. It is a perfect place to go and get away from it all. An ideal spot to relax and unwind.

This year, eyes are on Split as the destination of choice, so we thought it might be a good idea to highlight some of our favourite properties in the city. These excellent villas in Split boast wonderful views, proximity to the sea, charming interiors and, in some cases, incredible luxury:

There are plenty of reasons to visit the beautiful and vibrant city of Split, where modernity and tradition come together; there are stunning views over the Adriatic and beaches along the coast, there is always somewhere to grab something delicious or go for drinks, Roman ruins and architectural gems abound, and there is an endless list of things to see and do. However, if you have found a vacation rental in Split and you are interested in unique or bizarre attractions, then you should definitely pop into the UNESCO-protected SPAR in town…

Okay, so, technically it is actually a Billa supermarket (an Austrian supermarket group that has since been purchased by the Spar food retail chain) and it is technically located in a building that is part of a UNESCO-award architectural complex. In fact, it is part of the Mala Papalićeva Palača, a palace that is the former home of a noble family, which dates back to the 13th century originally and was rebuilt in the 15th century. This borders with Diocletian’s Palace and it part of Split’s Historic Centre, which was awarded UNESCO World Heritage status in 1979. So, the SPAR is, technically UNESCO-protected by being located inside this building.

There are museums around the world that host some of the most famous and beloved works of art, those that exhibit items from throughout the history and progress of mankind, those that showcase the lives of famous figures, others that explore the objects we wear, use and interact with, and then there are some rather more unique institutions. One such museum is Froggyland in Croatia's beautiful seaside resort town of Split, which features over 500 stuffed frogs, that have been arranged into various amusing little scenes from classroom settings to a blacksmith's shop.

Described by one visitor as “ribbiting” and known to have delighted many others who accidentally stumbled across it, it is a whimsical and bizarre space that is sure to delight and surprise people of all ages. If you have found a vacation rental in Split, it is a definite must-see.

Split is a vibrant and chaotic place where tradition and modernity collide. There is an endless list of things to see and do from the UNESCO awarded Roman Palace of Diocletian, to the buzzing shops, bars and restaurants.
