They have renovated other farmhouses, so the same attention to detail and all the lessons learned from previous renovations have been used in this last restoration, finished in 2003: original stone and bricks, terracotta flooring, antiques and Tuscan wood furniture.
In restoring the structure as a comfortable vacation house of exceptional character, the owners’ main aim was to respect the original features of the building.
Rooms with wood-beamed ceilings are well sized and open to the most beautiful views of the valley, with wheat fields, olive groves and cypress trees.
The Gonzi family respected the traditional structure of the farmhouse and kept the house divided into two independent units: the ground level, once the stables, which can accommodate ten people, and the top level, where the peasants used to live, which sleeps four more people.
As a result, Le Fontanelle is the perfect setting for family reunions or groups of friends looking for an “oasis” of tranquillity, surrounded by art and culture.
The extensive lawn is mainly seeded with grass to maintain the open space of the valley and not to restrict the view around the farmhouse.
Terracotta pots with geraniums, wild roses and bushes of lavender and rosemary create a beautiful frame around the pool (15m x 5m open from 1st June to mid-Sept.). The covered dining space with fireplace, pizza oven, barbeque, table and chairs will let guests enjoy unforgettable Tuscan sunsets.
