The incredible success story that is Game of Thrones was filmed in many different locations around the world. However, one of the most distinctive and iconic locations is Dubrovnik in Croatia, which has given shape to the fictional city of King's Landing. Beautiful and steeped in history and culture, it is already well-worth a visit but fans of the show will get an extra kick out of knowing that some of the key tourist attractions were also featured in the program. Once you have found a vacation rental in Dubrovnik, just track down these locations from the show.
4. Ethnographic Museum Rupe
Located in an old 16th century granary, this museum is now home to folk costumes and other textiles but was once where the Dubrovnik Republic kept all the state reserves of grain in deep silos carved out of stone called Rupe. The exterior was used as the exterior of the Littlefinger's brothel and the residential area nearby is part of the route the High Septon was forced to walk through naked in season five.

5. Rector's Palace
This 15th century palace was built for the elected rector that governed Dubrovnik at the time and was actually the filming location for a scene set outside of King's Landing. It is, instead, where Daenerys Targaryen went to ask the Spice King of Qarth for ships to take her army across the Narrow sea and was shot in the external parts the palace.
6. City walls
Dubrovnik's city walls are a series of defensive stone walls that stretch completely around the old town. The walls once enclosed the whole city and were continually extended and strengthened up until the 17th century. To increase their strength, the walls were reinforced by three circular and 14 quadrangular towers, five bastions, two angular fortifications and the large St. John's Fortress.

So mighty are the walls, in fact, that they were considered to be amongst the greatest fortification systems of the Middle Ages and were never breached by a hostile army during this time period. The Bokar Fortress is seen when Tyrion and Lord Varys planned the defense of King's Landing while looking out to sea. Seaside walls, meanwhile, can be seen in many scenes of Game of Thrones, such as during the iconic battle of Blackwater Bay, and the base of Minčeta Tower was used as the exterior of House of Undying.
7. Trsteno Arboretum
Located only 24 kilometres north-west of Dubrovnik, this is one of the oldest and most beautiful arboretums in the world. Established as a park and summer residence for the Gučetić-Gozze family at the end of the 15th century, it covers an area of 25 hectares and is made up of a Renaissance summer residence, garden, aqueduct, mill and an incredibly beautiful fountain with the Sea-God Neptune and nymphs. Many garden scenes were filmed here throughout the series.
Dubrovnik is a great boon to Croatia and a must-see in its own right but Game of Thrones fans really will enjoy the amazing locations where the show was filmed.
