Zlatni Rat
Zlatni Rat, oftentimes called the Golden Cape or Golden Horn beach, is one of the most beautiful beaches on the Croatian coastline and one of the most picturesquely perfect beaches in the globe. It is regularly listed as one of the top beaches in Europe and the World by tourist guides and it is easy to see why. With a highly distinctive and memorable shape, perfect rich blue seas and white pebble beach, Zlatni Rat has become a symbol of Croatian tourism and natural beauty. It is a true natural wonder and a protected gem, making it the perfect place to spend a day as a family, couple, group or on your own. Located 2km from the town of Bol on Brač Island, the beach can be reached by car, a 20-minute walk along the sea, or, in the summer season, via the tourist boats or tourist train that runs every half hour. Just find a
vacation rental in Bol and spend some time on this stunning beach for yourself.
The beach was created by deposits of fine pebbles as sediment around the underwater reef that spread out in a spit from the coast, as far as 500m out into the sea. It never looks the same way twice as the shape of the very tip of the stretch of beach is altered slightly all the time by winds, waves and sea currents.

While the beach is protected and not highly built up like beaches in some parts of the world, it does have quite good amenities. There are lifeguards on duty in the summer, showers, playgrounds, a cafe, beach chairs and umbrellas to rent and bathrooms on site. There is also a century-old Mediterranean pine tree forest right by the edge of the water where you can easily find shade from the sun during the hottest parts of the day. Surfers and kite-surfers flock to the beach from all around the globe, so it is also a good spot for more active pursuits.

As one can imagine, this is a very popular beach with tourists and, as a result, can be busy or a bit of a rip-off. For tips and tricks for visiting, be sure to read on to the next post as it is well worth the visit, just once you are prepared for what you can expect to find on site!
