The beach was created by deposits of fine pebbles as sediment around the underwater reef that spread out in a spit from the coast, as far as 500m out into the sea. It never looks the same way twice as the shape of the very tip of the stretch of beach is altered slightly all the time by winds, waves and sea currents.
While the beach is protected and not highly built up like beaches in some parts of the world, it does have quite good amenities. There are lifeguards on duty in the summer, showers, playgrounds, a cafe, beach chairs and umbrellas to rent and bathrooms on site. There is also a century-old Mediterranean pine tree forest right by the edge of the water where you can easily find shade from the sun during the hottest parts of the day. Surfers and kite-surfers flock to the beach from all around the globe, so it is also a good spot for more active pursuits.
