3. Palombaggia, Corsica

If you have found a vacation rental in Corsica and are venturing off the mainland to this beautiful Mediterranean holiday destination, there is one beach that you must check out: Palombaggia Beach. Known as Corsica’s most beautiful beach, voted as one of the Top 10 best beaches in Europe and UNESCO certified, it is a picture-perfect stretch of white sand and bluer than bluer water that gives any tropical beach a run for its money. Dotted with incredible white boulders and bordered by an evergreen forest, it curves in a half-moon for 2 km.

The shallow crystal clear blue water deepens gradually and it is protected and cleaned regularly. Lifeguarded in season, it also boasts water sport facilities, sea excursions to the Gulf of Porto-Vecchio, Cerbicales Islands and Lavezzi, snack bars, sunbed hire, and a free car park.

Keep in mind that the crowds can be overwhelming in summer but if you visit out of season, early in the day or move further down the beach, you'll be able to find a spot. A world-class beach, it is a must-see for anyone visiting Corsica.

4. Paloma Beach, Côte d'Azur

If you're interested in luxury and class and maybe spotting some film stars, this private beach is the must-visit for anyone who has found a vacation rental on the Côte d'Azur.

A pebble beach lapped by crystal clear seas, surrounded by mountains, yachts and luxurious homes, located on the Cap Ferrat with views over Beaulieu, it is another slice of paradise in France. While it attracts monied crowds, it is all old school Riviera chic and tasteful charm. Open daily from Easter to the end of September, a sunbed and parasol costs €23 per person and the food and drinks are actually pretty fairly priced and water sports, such as waterskiing and wake boarding are also available to guests. Half the beach is public but your best bet is to book a spot on the private side well in advance and enjoy a little bit of the high life for a day.
