7. Plage Châtelaillon
This two-and-a-half kilometre long beach was completely renovated in 1989 with half a million cubic metres of sand brought to repair it and, today, is a sandy, pretty dream. It is safe and easily accessed and is perfect for kids and families.
Backed by a pedestrianised walkway and flanked by restaurants and cafes, it boasts excellent facilities, endless blue skies, clear water and is dotted by cute striped cabins. It's a simple spot, a stone's throw from La Rochelle, that is quieter by contrast and, yet, still has a lot to offer.
If you have found a vacation rental in La Rochelle, forego the crowds and tourist vibes there for a few days and take some trips to this lesser-known gem, you'll thank us for it later!
