Ride The Santorini Cable Car And Take In The Best View In Greece

Santorini Cable Car, Greece
If you need to get rid of the cobwebs, relax, and unwind a vacation rental in the South Aegean and a visit to Santorini is a good idea. It is a famously beautiful destination full of pretty whitewashed seaside towns, blue domes, incredible pastel sunsets over crystal clear waters, chic boutiques, pretty restaurants, and much more besides that act as a feast for the eyes. For a picture-perfect holiday, it is the place to pick for your next getaway.

When you are on the island, if you find yourself in the old port and looking to get to the capital of Santorini, Fira then you should definitely take the opportunity to experience the
Santorini Cable Car for yourself.
While it is perhaps not the best idea for those who are deathly afraid of heights, for anyone else who wants to take in the true majesty of this stunning island in Greece it is a must. It was constructed by the Loula & Evangelos Nomikos Foundation, a foundation that was established in 1979 by the ship owner Evangelos Nomikos in order to fund the purchase and installation of the cable car so that locals and tourists alike would not have to constantly traverse the famous long winding stairs of the city on foot or by mule – an activity that is not pleasant for the elderly, the immobile, small children, or those with heavy baggage.

Today, the cable car can serve up to 1200 people per hour and takes just three minutes to get up to Fira, which is at a rather staggering altitude of 220m. However, it is not just a fast and efficient form of transport, it is an activity in its own right that allows those riding it to take in amazing views over the stunning caldera, the sea, and the volcano below. So, if you think you can stomach it, come experience the majestic beauty of Santorini with her famous cable car for yourself!
