In the previous installation in this guide we introduced some easy and pleasant little hiking trails but if you are looking for more a challenge then the following are some better options:
From Biarritz to Saint-Jean-de-Luz
This is another option closer to Biarritz but is considered moderately challenging. Stretching 15.9km along the coast from Biarritz to the nearby seaside resort of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, it takes about four hours point to point with the option to take the train back. Affording stunning coastal views, it is a nice way to plan a day-trip to another pretty village along the Basque Coast.
Longer Coastal Options
For those who want to go on a coastal hike but are after something more intense, the longer coastal route that goes from the nearby Bidart all the way to San Sebastian in Spain is a good option. Covering some 54km in total, this must be completed in stages and is an amazing way to admire the Atlantic Ocean, the Basque coast and her coastal villages, the Pyrenees, and more. You can choose to undertake as much or as little as you want and can readily reach the different stretches if you are on holiday in Biarritz.
The GR10
Another option for those willing to travel a bit during a vacation in Biarritz to hike in the wider Basque region, the Basque Pyrenees and the famous Grande Traversée hike await! An incredible way to take in the stunning panoramas of the region from its villages to its craggy peaks to its lush meadows, the GR10 is not to be missed!
So, for both a wander or a proper excursion, there are great options for those who book a villa in Biarritz or a getaway in France!
