The truly gorgeous island of Kos is a wonderful place to vacation due to its incredible natural beauty and wide array of varied and truly amazing beaches. Those who find a villa in Kos and spend time exploring the island, however, may find themselves looking for a break from the sun or just an opportunity to stretch their legs. If so, then we cannot recommend strolling through the lovely pines and paths of the Plaka Forest highly enough. And, while there, you will likely encounter another of the amazing natural wonders of the island, and one of its most beautiful inhabitants: the peacock.

Located on the road west of Antimachia, along a 2.5km paved road, the forest of Plaka boasts various paths winding through the tall pines and benches dotted all throughout, allowing guests to go for walks and to stop and admire their surroundings as they please. This relaxing and peaceful spot acts as the perfect complement to lazy days of sunning yourself on the endless gorgeous beaches nearby and offers a nice little change of pace.

Then, of course, as you wander about the forest, there are the peacocks (including an all-white peacock) that you can keep an eye out for – making the whole experience even more charming and enjoyable. Despite the fact that the area is also quite famous for the abundance of stray cats that prowl freely about the area, the colourful and rather handsome peacocks of the Plaka Forest actually live in harmony with them and are free to roam about wherever and whenever they please.

So, if you are interested in natural beauty, be sure to browse our range of lovely vacation rentals in Kos and then come and discover this stunning island and its equally gorgeous wildlife on your next holiday in Greece
