Perfectly designed for an ideal balance of communal space and time and privacy, each of the six bedrooms of the property, as noted, has its own en suite. Each room also has a private terrace, some of which offer sea views and others offer mountain views. All of the bedrooms have ample storage space and some also have seating areas and/or televisions. Every single bedroom is designed with comfort in mind and, yet, has its own character. While all are largely in neutral shades, pops of colour appear in various furnishings throughout the rooms and statement pieces add visual interest. In the communal areas of the villa, this largely neutral palette continues with yet more splashes of visual interest in touches here and there – interesting works of art, unique items of furniture, and more. The living room is a double-height room with book shelves built in against the full height of one wall. These shelves are filled with books, little sculptures, paintings, and an array of fascinating objects in a variety of colours, making this space especially intriguing. Among the shelves, there is also a television, and across from it there is a large sofa and several armchairs, ensuring that this space is not only an artistic delight but also a comfortable and welcoming place to unwind. French doors also open out from this room directly onto the al fresco dining area under the porch on one side and a large and comfy outdoor lounge set on the terrace to another side.
Opening up from the living room is an open-plan area of the house with the spiral staircase leading upstairs and the dining area that seats eight at a large square table and features yet another set of French doors that lead out onto the porch dining area. On the landing upstairs, the book shelves continue right to the ceiling and there is a desk where, perhaps, you might start that novel you’ve always meant to write while taking inspiration from your magical surroundings. Back on the ground floor, the final key area of the house is the gorgeous kitchen. This beautifully designed space is a real treat for home chefs as it has a big and impressively architectural island/breakfast bar in the centre, lovely modern walnut-coloured cabinetry, ample counter space, a massive stainless steel sink area, a separate hob and oven, a fridge-freezer, a microwave, and more. Another exit off this room also brings you out onto the porch, making it easier still to take meals al fresco.
The exterior of the villa and the gardens are perhaps the most charming features of Villa Franca Roc. It is a pretty white-washed villa with a large porch carried on columns with a little terracotta roof that matches the roof of the entire building, shuttered windows and doors, and lots of little terraces and balconies. The rocks and greenery of the hillside, onto which the villa is built, beautifully frame it and add to its charm. These rocks, in fact, directly border the pool, which is not only evocative due to this natural border and the sweeping views over the surrounding area that can be enjoyed from the pool area, but it also well set up. Plush, cushioned sun-loungers surround the pool, there are covered lounge areas, and there are steps down into the water, making access easier and more comfortable. Throughout the garden, the various areas to lounge and dine while enjoying the fragrant greenery and peace of the grounds and the incredible views from the villa, really ensure that guests can make the most of their time in this magical part of the world.
