If you love classical, historical, and traditional music as well as a scenic setting and a seaside vacation, then we have the perfect destination for a holiday in Spain: Peñíscola. This charming town, located along the Costa del Azahar in Valencia, is overlooked by its ancient castle fortress and is fronted by a long sandy beach. During the day in the summer months, it bustles with tourists and beach-goers and, by night in August, the air is filled with the sound of Baroque tunes that drift down from concerts at the castle. To attend one of these magical events for yourself and to explore all that this gem of a town has to offer, book one of our villas in Peñíscola.

The port city of Tarragona is already a rather magical place that boasts truly beautiful beaches, a rather romantic crumbling Roman amphitheatre overlooking the Mediterranean, a walled medieval centre that almost appears frozen in time, and more. Furthermore, the city in its totality has also been recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Incredibly elegant and picturesque and steeped in history, a vacation rental in Tarragona and a stay in the city have all of the ingredients necessary for perfect seaside getaway in Spain.

Of course, with all of this, you likely won’t need any more convincing to book a villa in Tarragona for your vacation in Spain but if you are looking for a serious cherry on top and you happen to be interested in the art of illusionism, then be sure to plan your trip for this April. Each year, throughout almost the entire month, Tarragona is taken over by magic for the month of April as it hosts the Teatre Màgic International Magic Festival. With performances by some of the biggest names in magic globally and some of the best magic shows on offer today, this is something that both the casual fan and serious enthusiast can enjoy. Know nothing at all about this world? Well, it’s a great way to dip your toe in for the first time.

Each country has its own Christmas traditions when it comes to foods, celebrations, gifts, activities, and more. In Spain, there are some rather unique festive traditions including Catalonia’s Tió de Nadal or Caga Tió (the, “Pooing Log,”), a small log painted with a face that is cared for by children throughout December before being beaten with sticks and pulling back the blanket over it to reveal a stash of small gifts and sweets on Christmas Eve or Day.

This somewhat odd but charming tradition is certainly one that those spending Christmas on vacation in Spain might enjoy engaging with but more people still might want to add to their luck of already being on holiday in Spain. Make it a Christmas to remember by getting away to a villa in Spain and then join locals by entering the Christmas lotto – maybe you’ll even get to extend the vacation!
