The Beaches Of The Beautiful Greek Island Of Chrissi

The incredible islet of Chrissi, located off the coast of the famous Greek island of Crete, is a stunning slice of paradise on earth. With ferries leaving daily from Ierapetra in the mornings and returning in the afternoons, between the middle of May to late October, it can easily be visited as a day trip if you have found a vacation rental in Crete and makes for a great place to get far away from your daily life.

Beaches are the main attraction of the island, as we noted in the first part of this series – with their extraordinarily picturesque white sands, exotically blue waters and wonderful views – and there are several to choose from. Here is a guide to the rest of Chrysi's excellent beaches and more reasons to visit...
East of Belegrina, the most famous and popular of the island's beaches (mentioned in part one), is Kataprosopo beach, meaning “face to face”, and named for its location directly opposite the islet of Micronisi. It has a pebble beach and is less photogenic than some of the other beaches but is less crowded and more desirable to many, as a result.

There is also Hatzivolakas, a calm and rocky beach with some white sands and those beloved shallow turquoise and clear waters: a great spot for snorkelling. This beach is also framed by the island's towering cedars that act as a wonderful natural sun shade for visitors.

To the north, there are the beaches of Mpelegrina and Chatzivolaka, which have sands dotted by beautiful little shells, as well as with sun beds and sun umbrellas.

So, if you were considering destinations in Greece but want an almost tropical beach holiday getaway, just head to Crete and then be sure to come for a day (or maybe two) to explore this magical little island.
