Dreaming of a vacation rental in Florence and time spent exploring the endless incredible cultural attractions of the city? Considering a visit to the Uffizi Gallery? Well, then these are the questions that you are going to need answered to plan a perfect visit…

What Are The Average Wait Times For The Uffizi Gallery?

While the option to get skip-the-queue or fast-passes exists, the average wait time for the Uffizi Gallery is already pretty short nowadays due to online ticket booking and many fast-pass tickets will not actually get you through the queue for security checks any faster. So, don’t worry, if you have booked a villa in Florence and want to see the Uffizi during your time in the city, you won’t have to waste all day lining up for this most famous and unmissable tourist attraction! You simply need to book your ticket online for a certain time slot and show up around fifteen minutes prior to your official entry time. Most people can expect to wait five to twenty minutes in the queue, allowing visitors to pass through security. As you no longer have to collect pre-booked tickets physically at the box office, there is also one less thing to queue for.

Can I Buy My Ticket For The Uffizi In Person?

If you are the type who likes to keep physical tickets as mementos, then you can also buy a ticket in various ticket offices in the city to remember your holiday in Florence by. There is a ticket office at the Uffizi itself but this can accrue longer queues and add significantly to your overall wait-time.

Instead, you might choose to buy your ticket for the Uffizi at the ticket office of other tourist attractions such as the Pitti Palace, the National Archaeological Museum of Florence, OperaYourPreview (via Por Santa Maria 13R, Florence) the Orsanmichele Museum, or the ticket offices of any of the State museums in Florence, such as the National Museum of Bargello. Just be sure to specify clearly that you want a ticket for the Uffizi!

How Much Time Should I Set Aside For A Visit To The Uffizi?

This will largely depend on your own tastes and preferences but at least two hours would be necessary to see the highlights and main masterpieces of the museum, walk around, and to include the queueing time.  Those, however, who are on vacation in Florence and really want to get to grips with the Uffizi’s collection during their trip, could easily spend an entire day simply wandering around the museum. In fact, serious enthusiasts could come over and over again and feel as though they had barely made a dent in this extraordinary collection.

How Much Do Tickets For The Uffizi Cost?

Tickets booked online through the Uffizi website are all subject to a €4 booking surcharge. This means that even free tickets cost €4 but it has ensured that wait-times to access the museum have decreased and allows easier access. The tickets themselves are priced as follows:

Regular

€25 + €4 booking fee = €29 total

Reduced price tickets (European union citizens only, from 18 to the day of your 25th birthday, must show a passport or ID. Reduced-price tickets are also granted to citizens from Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Uruguay and citizens with permit cards issued for the reasons listed on the website of Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs)

€2 + €4 booking fee = €6 total

Free admission (for those under 18 or disabled visitors plus an accompanying guest)

€0 + €4 booking fee = €4 total

Free admission days – When there are free admission days, it is not possible to make reservations and priority admissions are not valid (such as for card and pass holders), except for disabled visitors and those accompanying them, pregnant women, and school groups. For bargain-hunters, these days are a great time to visit but expect queues to be their longest without the pre-booking option.
