Firule Beach is one of the oldest and most popular spots in all of Split. Locals love it and it is not merely a beach but a meeting point and part of the lifestyle and cultural landscape of the city. Tourists are now getting wise to it too and, as it is one of the best beaches in Croatia, it is a must-see for anyone who is looking to book a vacation rental in Split.
Located in a district of the city bearing the same name, Firule Beach is a small sandy beach that is popular among young mothers and that is great for families with kids as it boasts fine sand, shallow water and natural shelter. Said shelter, particularly from the North wind, also makes it a great spot for swimming and you'll even find people out in the water during the winter months. It is, however, a simple beach with not many amenities or services, just a shower and a coffee bar.

If you have found a vacation rental in the charming Croatian city of Rijeka, then you're likely not going to miss the Trsat Castle as it is perched in a strategic position high above the city. Boasting an amazing view over the surrounding area, it is one of the oldest fortifications on the Croatian coast a well-preserved medieval gem and also a recreation area, historical monument and pilgrimage site, all rolled into one.
The castle is first recorded when it was mentioned as a parochial centre in 1288, though the site had been known as an observation post since prehistoric times and was important for the Romans to establish their defence system, the so-called Liburnian limes. The present structure was built by the Frankopan dukes of Krk but it has been altered over the years, the latest changes being made in 1824 under Irish-born count Laval Nugent, a commander in the Austrian army, who bought the castle and restored in a romantic neoclassical Biedermeier style.

The Brijuni archipelago is a group of islands made up of two main islands and 12 smaller islets, located just off the coast of Istria. While the largest island, called Veli Brijun, is the only one that can actually be visited, it is still worth making your way there as the archipelago, as a whole, is one of the true jewels of both Istria and Croatia and is utterly beautiful.
Blanketed in meadows, forests, and rare plants, like wild cucumber and marine poppy, the islands were declared a national park in 1983 and for good reason: the islands are special natural wonders and Veli Brijun can readily be visited as a day trip if you find a vacation rental in the city of Pula.
Admired for their great beauty since at least Roman times, the islands of the Brijuni archipelago can count the likes of Indira Gandhi, Queen Elizabeth II, Sophia Loren, and Elizabeth Taylor as former visitors and fans.

If you have found a vacation rental in the Croatian city of Pula, you will discover a charming seaside town with a beach-lined coast and, uniquely, dotted with Roman ruins. Historic, beautiful and fascinating, it is a perfect holiday destination.
One of the most interesting examples of a Roman ruin in the city is the Temple of Augustus. Located right at the centre of Pula, in the ancient Roman Forum, it is a well-preserved Roman temple that is dedicated to the first Roman emperor, Augustus. Likely built during the emperor's lifetime at some point between 2 BC and his death in AD 14, it is a typical temple of this period. Based on a plan of a cella, a closed room and an antechamber facing the square, with a tetrastyle prostyle porch of Corinthian columns at the front, it is raised on a podium and measures about 8m in width, 17.3m in length and 14m in height.

The Monument to the Sun, or Pozdrav suncu, is a beautiful monument that must be seen if you find your dream vacation rental in Zadar. Made up of three hundred multi-layered glass plates that are embedded in the pavement on the waterfront of the pier, organised in a 22-meter diameter circle, the monument is turned on at night and produces a beautiful light show. It goes hand-in-hand with the Sea Organ (which we have written about before here) and symbolises communication with nature through light, while the organ uses sound. Next to the main installation, which represents the sum, are smaller installations that represent other planets of the solar system.
