Skyline of Rovinj
Istria is famously one of the most popular holiday destinations in all of Croatia and, as a result, there are plenty of resort towns, many of which have been built up as large developments. However, for those who are not as big a fan of package deals and sun holidays but, rather, seek out the more authentic, traditional, cultural, and historic aspects of a vacation destination, then there is still plenty to discover in the region. Traditionally the area inland, known as Green Istria, is where you’ll find peace and quiet and areas untouched by mass tourism while Blue Istria, the coastline, is the area that attracts great crowds of tourists during the summer months. Poreč and Rovinj, for example, are located along the coast of Istria and are Croatia's two most popular seaside resorts. As a result, you’ll have to compete with large crowds during the hottest months of the year. But that doesn’t mean that these towns are completely without charm, local flavour, and authenticity. In fact, the Old Town of Rovinj is one of the most beautiful in the country and the town, as a whole, is incredibly picturesque and rich in culture and historical heritage. So, if you can put up with the crowds during the summer or you’re planning on travelling off-season, you’ll discover that there is much more to this popular holiday destination than one might expect. Worth the hype, with something for everyone, browse our vacation rentals in Rovinj today and come discover its unique charms for yourself!     Read More

Croatia is famed for her beaches and her stunning and diverse landscape that ranges from towering peaks to lush green valleys blanketed with vineyards and olive groves to fascinating wetlands to impressive forests to semi-wild islands. The list of things to see and do outdoors is endless and appealing. However, while these are all reason enough to plan a getaway in Croatia, it is not all that there is to the country. Croatia is home to awe-inspiring Roman ruins, stunning Baroque churches, gorgeous gardens, pretty palaces, brilliant art collections, and a rich cultural heritage that can be warmly felt in many of the country's well-preserved historic centres and towns and villages. In addition, it is also a place that has given birth to some more unusual museums including the now world-famous Museum of Broken Relationships in Zagreb and the somewhat bizarre Froggyland museum of taxidermy frogs in various scenes, costumes, and poses in Split. Another rather special museum in Croatia that you should make a point to visit if you are spending time in one of our villas in Rijeka is the PEEK&POKE Computer Museum.     Read More

Close to the Italian border, to the north of Croatia, you will find the lovely town of Pula, capital of Istria. An impossibly pretty place, you can expect cobbled streets, Roman ruins dotted throughout (including a rather impressive and picturesque amphitheatre that could give the colosseum a run for its money), wonderful beaches, excellent seafood, festivals, a vibrant nightlife, and lots to see and do in this seaside gem. It is a place with something to suit everyone from couples in search of romance, groups of friends in search of fun, families looking for lots of great activities, and solo travellers looking for a bit of adventure alike.

If you have found a vacation rental in Pula or a vacation rental in Istria and are looking at the top things to see and do while exploring this charming city, you will most likely see plenty of travellers and guides suggesting a visit to Pula's Aquarium. The most visited public aquarium in Croatia, this institution is particularly devoted to education on the sea and its inhabitants, the need for protection and conservation of our waters, and the rescuing and returning back to the sea of critters who have found themselves in a spot of danger or trouble. As such, it is a perfect place to see sea creatures if you also really care about their safety and well-being!     Read More

It would be fair to call it the museum capital of Croatia in addition to being the actual capital of the country.     Read More

Split is a beautiful seaside city set on the dramatic and picturesque Adriatic Coast with its turquoise, glittering waters and craggy cliffs and mountains and is home to incredible Roman ruins from long ago. It is, however, in no way stuck in the past and is a buzzing, vibrant place with a very active nightlife, incredible restaurants, and lots to see and do. So, if you’re looking for a holiday full of fun, sun, and excitement, then a vacation rental in Split is a good idea.

Split is also home to some great cultural gems including the incredible Ivan Meštrović Gallery (or Galerija Meštrović). Dedicated to the life and work of the 20th-century sculptor, Ivan Meštrović, the building rises like a sacred temple atop a hillside overlooking the coast. The building, in fact, looks rather like a temple due to its iconic and beautiful design, that features a long façade, reached atop a flight of stone stairs built into the hillside, with two three-bay wings flanking a central unit fronted by a portico with Ionic order columns. Above the portico there is a terrace that takes in those incredible views over the coast. Inside, the building is home to large, bright, airy rooms that house the most significant works of Meštrović, including sculptures, drawings, designs, furniture and architectural plans.     Read More
