Temple of Augustus
If you have found a vacation rental in the Croatian city of Pula, you will discover a charming seaside town with a beach-lined coast and, uniquely, dotted with Roman ruins. Historic, beautiful and fascinating, it is a perfect holiday destination.

One of the most interesting examples of a Roman ruin in the city is the Temple of Augustus. Located right at the centre of Pula, in the ancient Roman Forum, it is a well-preserved Roman temple that is dedicated to the first Roman emperor, Augustus. Likely built during the emperor's lifetime at some point between 2 BC and his death in AD 14, it is a typical temple of this period. Based on a plan of a cella, a closed room and an antechamber facing the square, with a tetrastyle prostyle porch of Corinthian columns at the front, it is raised on a podium and measures about 8m in width, 17.3m in length and 14m in height.     Read More

Naïve art is an international art movement beginning in the 20th century that has been defined by the Tate Britain as art that is “simple, unaffected and unsophisticated” and “usually specifically refers to art made by artists who have had no formal training in an art school or academy” and the Croatian Museum of Naïve Art is a rather special art museum that is located in the town of Zagreb in Croatia. It is entirely dedicated to the work of naïve artists of the 20th century and it boasts holdings of over 1,900 paintings, sculptures, drawings and prints by Croatian artists as well as some well-known international artists. Fascinating, diverse and very interesting, it is a must-see for anyone who has found a vacation rental in Zagreb.     Read More

There is nothing fun about breakups and they are the last thing you want to think about while on holidays. However, there is something bleakly fascinating about the breakups of others and we can't help but be a bit nosy but there is also a sense of camaraderie and a bond that grows from sharing our heartbreaks with each other. Heartbreak, loss and nostalgia are very human things that we all feel and understand. As such, the Museum of Broken Relationships really is a fascinating place and a must-see for anyone who has found a vacation rental in Zagreb.

Permanently located in the beautiful baroque Kulmer palace in the Upper Town, a historic part of the city that you most likely would end up in anyway, as it is full of tourist attractions. However, among all of these attractions, the Museum of Broken Relationships is, undoubtedly, Zagreb's quirkiest museum.     Read More

Peristyle
Once you have found a vacation rental in Split, there is one attraction in the city that is bound to top your list: Diocletian’s Palace. One of the most imposing and important of all Roman ruins, it is the site where Emperor Diocletian, who had voluntarily given up the throne of the Roman Empire in the 4th century, retired.

He built his palace on the beach, in the Illyrian province of Rome, which would later become a part of modern-day Croatia. The whole complex occupied around 30,000 square meters and included the domestic “palace” as well as other buildings, including a military garrison.

These buildings have all become intertwined with the centre of the city and now makes up the Old Town of Split. Shops, cafes, restaurants and apartments housing around 3000 people now exist where the palace once stood alone.     Read More
