Beach in Cabourg

Cabourg is one of Normandy’s most picturesque seaside resorts. A simple fishing and farming village until the middle of the 19th century, it was transformed by Parisian businessman Henri Durand-Morimbau, who had a vision of what it could be once railway lines made the town easily accessible to Parisians looking to escape the city. Under Durand-Morimbau, the town was completely redesigned and turned into a rather stunning place, full of architectural gems. Boasting lots of ornate buildings, the architectural character of Cabourg is eclectic, Belle Époque, and opulent. A wonderful place to enjoy the seaside during a vacation in Normandy and a unique town with a distinct look, there is something almost a little Gothic about it all and certainly a singular and cinematic feeling. One can feel as though they have fallen back through time or ended up in some sort of fantastical film as they wander about the place. So, find a villa in Cabourg and come enjoy this gorgeous stretch of the coast while admiring the backdrop of steep roofs and turrets with elaborate finials, balconies, intricate details, the multicoloured brick work and wood-panelled facades, and gardens full of blooms.
