Greece is home to some utterly breath-taking landscapes, iconic ruins, picture-perfect towns, and natural wonders from monasteries perched on towering rock formations to white-washed villages looking over the sea to ancient pillars still standing proud on hilltops. However, one of the most astounding and magical beauties in the entire country has to be the Valley of the Butterflies, or Petaloúdes that can be visited by those who book a vacation rental in Greece

Located on the island of Rhodes, this 600-acre nature park is the only natural forest of Liquidambar orientalis (Oriental Sweetgum trees) in Europe. A green valley dotted with waterfalls and moss-covered rocks and cut through by rivers, this lush garden of delights is where the Jersey Tiger (Panaxia Quadripunctaria), a nocturnal moth, makes its home each summer.

When one finds a villa in Greece, they are likely to be looking forward to seeking out the rich history of the country - its incredible ruins, the remarkable museums, and the endless archaeological finds that have been discovered in sites all over Greece. However, if you are planning on staying in a vacation rental in the Ionian Islands, we also recommend heading to Corfu to see the island and its native history as well as some amazing Asian antiquities! The museum there is the only one in Greece that is exclusively dedicated to Asian art and antiquity so while Corfu has lots of wonderful local history to dive into, this charming museum is also well worth seeking out.

The truly gorgeous island of Kos is a wonderful place to vacation due to its incredible natural beauty and wide array of varied and truly amazing beaches. Those who find a villa in Kos and spend time exploring the island, however, may find themselves looking for a break from the sun or just an opportunity to stretch their legs. If so, then we cannot recommend strolling through the lovely pines and paths of the Plaka Forest highly enough. And, while there, you will likely encounter another of the amazing natural wonders of the island, and one of its most beautiful inhabitants: the peacock.

Some are made more scenic by nearby ancient ruins or pretty whitewashed towns or some other charming detail, ensuring that they are even more memorable and make for the perfect backdrop to a magic day by the sea. This is true of the beach of Frangokastello, a spectacular beach that should be added to your list of must-see examples during a stay in one of our amazing villas in Crete.
