The original architecture has been lovingly preserved, with terracotta floors, exposed beams, and stone façades seamlessly blended with modern comforts and tasteful furnishings that draw from the rich rural tradition of Tuscany. The interior combines salvaged pieces of antique furniture with contemporary accessories, achieving a harmonious balance between tradition and functionality. Designed with a deep respect for the environment, the restoration was carried out according to sustainable principles, incorporating innovative systems that guarantee complete energy efficiency, including a photovoltaic system that offers free recharging for electric vehicles. The property is surrounded by a generous yard that includes a colorful garden bordered by century-old oak trees, a fruit grove, and a 3.5-hectare vineyard. Outdoors
The outdoor spaces of Il Molinaccio are as captivating as the interiors, offering a seamless extension of the property's natural elegance. The property is immersed in a one-hectare park consisting primarily of woodland, while the house itself is surrounded by approximately 6,000 square metres of well-maintained garden lawn framed by old oak trees that provide generous shade and a natural coolness on warm summer days. A beautiful stone portico, furnished with a table and benches, provides an ideal setting for pleasant outdoor meals in the open air. Just outside the kitchen, a large paved area has been equipped as an additional dining space, perfect for alfresco gatherings. The small forest is crossed by the river Salcheto, along which the owners Marco and Alessandro have created a walking footpath with natural bridges, ideal for leisurely strolls or moments of relaxation on handmade wooden benches while enjoying the surrounding natural landscape. Along the river, 3D targets representing local animals have been positioned, transforming the path into a fully fledged Field Archery Range where both professionals and amateurs may practice or learn this ancient sport with the assistance of a skilled trainer. A small outbuilding serves as a laundry facility. The property's cats wander freely throughout the park, adding a charming and authentic rural atmosphere to your stay. Please be aware that photographs of the property were taken in spring, and therefore the blossoming of flowers and the color of the garden grass may differ at the time of your arrival.

Description
Property Summary
Nestled in the rolling hills of Tuscany, Italy, Villa delle Sophore is an extraordinary eighteenth-century residence located just a few kilometers from Lake Trasimeno, with the ancient Etruscan city of Cortona visible in the distance. This remarkable vacation rental occupies what was historically a border and smuggling area between the Grand Duchy of Tuscany and the Papal States, lending the property an atmosphere of rare historical depth and romance. The villa has been thoughtfully restored through a decidedly conservative renovation that has preserved its original character while ensuring every modern comfort is at hand. Painted frescoes, vaulted ceilings, a majestic atrium, and a collection of antique furnishings sourced through years of patient research by the owners create an environment that feels both timeless and deeply welcoming. LCD televisions, stereos, and Internet WiFi connectivity are seamlessly integrated into the interiors, ensuring guests enjoy contemporary convenience without compromising the villa's historic charm. The surrounding yard and park-garden, shaped by the mild lake climate and planted with species of rare botanical beauty, extend the sense of grandeur beyond the villa's walls. The owners reside in a private annex of the property with a separate entrance, making themselves available to guests throughout their stay. When renting this property in this configuration, no other guests will be present anywhere on the estate, guaranteeing complete exclusivity and privacy.
Outdoors
The exterior of Villa delle Sophore is a carefully maintained park-garden that reflects the nineteenth-century tradition of blending English and Italian landscaping styles. The grounds are home to oak forests, local flora and fauna, and plants of rare beauty, including the pair of giant pendulous Japanese sophoras from which the villa takes its name, considered the finest examples of their kind in the entire territory. A beautiful period lemon house, an ancient gazebo, a solarium area, and a magnificent contemporary fountain complete the park and create a series of distinct outdoor spaces to explore and enjoy. The non-heated pool is positioned just a few meters from the house, set slightly lower in the landscape and easily reached from the garden via a gentle slope. Open from the last Saturday of April to the first Saturday of October, the rectangular pool measures 11 meters by 7 meters with a constant depth of 1.25 meters. Access to the water is provided by a Roman staircase, and a cold shower is available poolside. The interior of the pool is finished in PVC, while the outer edge and solarium area are laid in traditional terracotta. Sun loungers and umbrellas are provided, and centuries-old trees surrounding the pool naturally create shaded areas throughout the day. Privacy in the solarium area is ensured by a laurel hedge that separates it from the rest of the park. Adjacent to the pool, a large open veranda houses a fully equipped kitchen and a generous dining table with chairs, creating an ideal setting for outdoor meals. A barbecue is also available in this area, perfect for alfresco dining in the warm Tuscan evenings. Please note that photographs of the property are typically taken in spring, so the colors and blooms of the gardens, lawns, and park may vary depending on the season of your visit.

Description
We find Podere Marcigliano nestled in the green Valdichiana, on a gentle hill at the gates of the town of Cortona, which is a must-visit destination. First with its Etruscan and then Roman reminiscences, the town enjoyed considerable prosperity during the medieval period and from 1411 followed the glorious fortunes of the Granducato di Toscana. Its cobbled alleys that wind their way up the hill, the ancient buildings, squares and churches, will make you fall in love with this small and industrious centre of the Valdichiana of Arezzo area, a memory you will always carry in your heart in the years to come, we are sure!
In Cortona or Camucia you will find shops, supermarkets, typical restaurants and every kind of service you need.
Podere Marcigliano consists of 2 newly built villas, which nevertheless reflect the architectural characteristics of the farmhouses of the past. In the first building there are 3 apartments (Torreone, Tufa and the first floor owner’s apartment), in the second there are 2 units (Corito and Rugapiana).
Each apartment has a large green area, a beautiful swimming pool (size 7x14 m, depth 1.50 m - open from 17 May to 30 September and fully fenced), a barbecue, a laundry room in common use and children's games, and its own private area equipped with a furnished gazebo for your meals in the open air.
You will find yourself living your stay in contact with nature but still close to the major centres of Tuscany and Umbria. Its convenient location, quiet but not isolated, makes Podere Marcigliano the ideal place to spend a relaxing holiday while not being far from the major communication routes that will allow you to easily visit, even on day trips, cities of art and small charming villages, little known jewels of the Central Italian countryside.
Podere Marcigliano is also the ideal structure for off-season stays, during the winter and Christmas period, when the town of Cortona is transformed with the thousands of lights of the characteristic Christmas markets and Santa' House. Podere Marcigliano

In 1996 we moved to the Crete Senesi and we fell in love with this farmhouse Etruscan origins, medieval mill, peace and tranquillity. That’s why we decided to share it with our guests and their four-legged friends.
The farm keeps the whole family busy: Alessandro (biologist, nature guide and Sommelier), Elisa who looks after the administration, Mauro and Paola, retired but full time busy on the farm. And we hope that in the future even Emma and Guido will give us a helping hand.
We produce vegetables and fruit, olive oil and truffles from organic agriculture.
For our guests we organize a rich programme of initiatives discovering the colours and flavours of the Crete, wine tasting in our cosy winery and excursions by bike guided by Alessandro who is fond of cycling.
