How To Attend Paris Fashion Week III

Paris Fashion Week is synonymous with glamour, luxury and exclusivity. However, it is not completely beyond the realm of those interested in fashion. Just find a vacation rental in Paris and use our guide to get a taste of Paris Fashion Week for yourself! Be sure to check out the previous posts in this series and take note of these further ways to get involved.

3. Volunteer

Some fashion houses look for volunteers in the run up to the event as they suddenly need more staff members than usual. If you want to get hands-on with fashion week, this might be a way to do it and get behind the scenes. You can contact individual brands themselves or the officials at FHCM.
4. Shopping in Paris

Just popping into the shops that actually stock these brands is an experience in its own right. Maybe you won't be able to afford anything but you'll still find lots to look at and have a fun time – just don't let yourself get intimidated and walk in there like you own the place! Many of these stores will have special events, deals and promotions to celebrate fashion week, as well, so you never know what you'll find. Some must-sees are Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche, COMME des GARÇONS Trading Museum, The Broken Arm, L’Éclaireur Hérold, colette (sadly, now closed) and the spectacular DAAD Dantone, an avant-garde concept store where you can find brands like Uma Wang, Damir Doma and Rick Owens. While you're in colette, be sure to grab some of their incredible selection of fashion magazines as a more affordable fashion memento.

5. Virtual Experience

If you can't beat 'em and you can't join 'em, why not embrace the voyeuristic opportunities of the internet? Once you're all cosy in your rental after a day of exploring the city, keep up to date with what's been going on at fashion week with websites like Fashion Week Online and Vogue. It may not be front row but at least you can wear your pajamas (actually, scratch that, I bet people have worn pajamas to fashion week before!).

While the full fashion week experience is something most of us will never have, fashion lovers visiting Paris have plenty of ways to enjoy this stylish city.
