The Greek island of Crete is famously beautiful, with a landscape of picturesque little white-washed towns topped by blue church domes and ancient ruins, rugged mountains traversed by climbers and goats alike, lush green valleys cut through by impressive gorges and silver rivers, picture-perfect beaches framed by dramatic cliffs and lapped by sparkling azure waters, and much more besides. It is a place where immense natural loveliness and impressive manmade feats live in perfect harmony to produce scenes almost too cinematic and remarkable to believe are real. Those who find a villa in Crete might choose to go to various nearby tourist attractions, explore the town or village in which they are based, seek out neighbouring resorts to see what they have to offer, or go on a tour of some of the gorgeous beaches nearby but doing even all of these things will likely only give you a tiny taste of all that Crete has to offer. If you really want to come and see all that makes the island so unique and to really immerse yourself in the distinct atmosphere of this magical part of Greece, then we recommend hitting the road on a motorcycle or scooter!

Greece, as a holiday destination, is often pictured in a very specific way: waking up to stunning views over glittering bluer than blue waters with clear skies overhead and a backdrop of whitewashed buildings stacking up from craggy cliffs. While, of course, there are plenty of locations all around the country that don’t look like this and are well worth visiting and exploring, it is certainly true that many of Greece’s most popular spots among tourists are those that boast similar scenes. An important consideration, then, when choosing and booking your villa in Greece is the view afforded from the property. Luckily, we have plenty of vacation rentals in Greece that boast some truly stunning panoramas that can be enjoyed all throughout your stay, as you go about your daily activities all day, when you wake up in the morning to refresh your eyes and remind you that you are on holidays, and before you go to sleep while you chat into the night with your companions or enjoy a drink while soaking it all in. There is no better component when choosing your holiday rental in Greece for letting you escape your daily concerns and life, allowing you to fully relax, and ensuring that you are well and truly immersed in some proper rest and relaxation than a wonderful view. Crete’s seaside towns are all pretty magic in their own ways but each are steeped in their own local myths and traditions and have their own trademark attractions and landmarks. The town of Agios Nikolaos, for example, is marked by a beautiful body of water that remains amongst the villas, apartment buildings, shops, and restaurants: the unique Lake Voulismeni! Incredibly picturesque, this special gem is a focal point for life, leisure, and tourism in the town. It is a place to go for strolls, to go for a little dip, to enjoy food or wine or a coffee by the water, or to simply sit on a bench and take in the scenery and do a bit of people-watching. One more reason to plan a trip to this stunning part of the island, be sure to check out our villas in Agios Nikolaos and our vacation rentals in Crete and come spend some time in this utterly scenic and rather magical little corner of the world.

Gerakas Beach

We’ve spoken about the stunning island of Zakynthos in Greece on plenty of occasions as an ideal spot for a relaxing island getaway where most of your days are spent exploring the picture-perfect landscape and enjoying the array of gorgeous beaches on offer. However, if you are browsing our incredible villas in Zakynthos and are actually planning your trip today then we have one particularly lovely beach for you to make note of as a must-see among all of the great beach options and wonderful spots of natural beauty that the island has to offer: Gerakas Beach.

Without a doubt one of the most picturesque of all of the beaches on the island, this is partially because Gerakas Beach is also where the protected Loggerhead turtles that populate the island come to nest and hatch their eggs and is a highly protected area that is part of the Zakynthos Marine Park, as a result. While this fact means that there are some restrictions to keep in mind for those visiting the beach, it is also one more reason for many people to visit and, if you’re up for getting there before dawn between May and October you might even be able to spot the eggs hatching and the baby turtles making their way to the sea for the first time from a distance!
